Rebuilding the Temple Agape Bible Study
The Book of of the Prophet Haggai

The prophet Haggai was one of the three post-exile prophets along with Zechariah and Malachi. They were among the faithful remnant who returned to Judah after the 539 BC edict of Persian King Cyrus allowed the Jews exiled to Babylon to return to their homeland. However, soon after their return, the discouraged community of Judah lost the will to continue to rebuild Yahweh's holy Jerusalem Temple. God intervened by sending the prophet Haggai to exhort them to complete their spiritual renewal by rebuilding the Temple. In four precisely dated addresses, he called the people to demonstrate obedience to their covenant with Yahweh. He reminded them that there were consequences for disobeying God, but when they were obedient to His commands, God graciously provided for their needs. He also prophesied a new era and a significance place for their Davidic prince Zerubbabel in God divine plan for His people. References for the course are found in the Course Bibliography.
